NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader Review 2025: Real Test
Summary: If you want to cherish the enigmatic aura of Amazon Prime Video in your offline watch, Noteburner Amazon Video Downloader is the ultimate destination.
A Prime subscription gives us the playback access, but many shows and movies are only available for temporary download. Once the expiration date expires or the devices are changed, the videos disappear like bubbles. Even worse, after some content is removed from Prime, I may have to subscribe to another streaming platform I may not have used too much before. Another fee has just been sent out, cha-ching.
This is why I noted NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader. However, before actually using it, like many others, I had concerns: Is it truly stable? How is its output quality? Are there any regulatory compliance risks? Instead of making you worry, I conducted a comprehensive test and wrote this NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader review. Let's start.
An Introduction to NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader
As a video downloader designed to provide a more flexible offline viewing of Prime Video titles, NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader is not that kind of hacker tool. Instead, it just helps you store Amazon Prime shows to common MP4/MKV formats, so that you don't have to regret the unfinished but expired Pluribus.

NoteBurner isn't free. It has a trial version, but it's quite limited: it only lets you download the first five minutes of each video, making it primarily for trial use. If you want to download full Amazon Prime Videos, you'll need to purchase a full license:

What You Should Know First: Is It Safe & Legal to Use?
After my inspection via Virustotal, its homepage and download link are clear, without any phishing links or scam ads. BUT, there is one BScope.Trojan.ProxyChanger warning from VBA32, Acronis (Static ML). It could be a false positive, but if you care about this, you can check out a NoteBurner alternative that I have carefully prepared for you, right in section 6.

Whether using it or not is up to you, but be more careful than you are casually doing to a clean application. I still recommend that everyone do the same as me. Third-party tools are only used as auxiliary, and official software should be given priority in any case.

Pros & Cons of NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader
Regardless of the pricing, we need to make a decision based on its actual features and output performance; otherwise, it would seem biased. I tested each function mentioned on its official website one by one, and the results are listed below. If you need a reference, here are the device and environment I used to test NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader:
- OS: Windows 11 (RAM 16 GB, usable 13.8 GB)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800U + Radeon Graphics
- Network: Wi-Fi 5G
- NoteBurner version: 2.3.4
- Amazon plan: Amazon US (Standard with Ads)
- Test title: Reacher Season 1 Episode 1
- Video length: 5 (Due to trial limit)
- Type: Subscription-based content
- Save Amazon Videos in MP4 or MKV Format with HD Quality.
- Keep Multilingual Audio Tracks and Subtitles, including 5.1 audio.
- Extract Subtitles as Separate Files.
- H.264 & H.265 Video Codec Options.
- Keep the Metadata Info of Videos.
- 5X Fast Speed & Batch Download Mode.
No-prize quiz! Guess which of its features actually work as well as advertised, and which ones are exaggerated. Now pick a part to start:
How is its output quality? | Is it downloading fast? | Does it suit newbies?
Output Quality
It’s not hard to see that NoteBurner achieves 1080p output, 5.1 audio, and MP4/MKV format. But the problem is also quite obvious: the bitrate under H.265 is only 2586 kb/s. Although it doesn’t affect your ability to catch up on the plot, it’s not exactly fair to your eyes. To avoid inaccurate testing, I also tested the quality of the same episode under H.264 encoding, and the bitrate increased to 3129 kb/s, with no other changes. In case you didn’t know, the maximum bitrate marked by NoteBurner is 15,000 kb/s. Heh.

AND, I have to mention this. On the options page before downloading in NoteBurner (the page with settings like audio track, video quality, audio quality, etc.), there is no option for EAC3 5.1; you have to manually enable it in the settings page before downloading. If you forget, but still want better sound quality, you’ll have to download it all over again.
Speed & Stability
It downloads one video in just 1 minute and 1 second. Don't be amazed yet, that's a 5-minute video on the trial version. Based on the final file size of 123MB, you can estimate its average speed at 2MB/s, with a peak around 6MB/s (this data comes from the speed details displayed on its download interface, like in the screenshot below). It seems decent, but only for TV episodes that are about 20 to 30 minutes each. If you want to download a high-quality full-length movie, you’d better take a nap and check later to see if it’s done. If this is what the official website promotes as "5x faster," wasn’t the previous version practically crawling?

I also tested the batch download feature. This can’t really be called batch downloading; it’s more like batch task adding. It can’t download multiple videos at the same time, so don’t expect too much from this. In terms of stability, it performed quite well. Although it gave me a pile of 5-minute short videos, at least I didn't encounter common issues like NoteBurner cannot download, or blue screens on my computer. Pass.
User-Friendliness
NoteBurner does a pretty good job in this regard. The page looks very simple and straightforward, and although the animations are just a nice touch, I quite like them. Also, when you open it for the first time, it will automatically redirect you to the corresponding region’s Prime Video page based on your network environment, and then floating arrows will guide you through each step of the download process. If you missed its built-in tutorial or forgot the detailed steps, you can refer to the tutorial I wrote:
Using the built-in browser of NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader, you can search for your desired video, and the NoteBurner tool will show you the related results.

Using the video thumbnail, head to the details page of your selected video > click the green download arrow sign > for the “Advanced Download” option for the resolution, audio quality, and subtitles.

Then again, hit the “Download” option to save your selected video to your chosen output folder. There will be 2 or 3 pop-ups asking if you want to change the codecs or audio quality. That's up to you. Anyway, you can get your downloads in the “Library” section, finally.

- So, the final rate I'll give NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader is... 3.4 stars. It does the basic part of the download job pretty well, and I appreciate that. But it fools me with a fake bitrate sign and a fake bulk download function, so that's why I don't really like it overall.
A Better Alternative: StreamFab Amazon Video Downloader
Alright, are you satisfied with its performance? As for me, if it were a bit cheaper, I might be able to accept it, but all things considered, compared to another Amazon Video Downloader that I often use, its cost performance is much lower.

More functions, more convenience, better output quality, and a much more generous free trial.
I won't mention the repetitive features, including 1080p, MP4/MKV format, H.265/H.264 codecs, multiple soundtracks & subtitles, and metainfo preserving. After using it day after day, the following are the relatively unique features of this StreamFab Amazon Video Downloader.
- Bitrate option: It allows you to choose between CVBR & CBR, which presents a better bitrate.
- Extra download: Not just the casual titles, it can also download the "Extra" of the shows included.
- Auto-download: Set a schedule, leave it alone. It will detect and download new episodes automatically.
- Direct-download mode: It uses web download instead of web rip, so its download speed is over 10 MB/s.
- Higher audiovisual quality: Like the screenshot shows below, it outputs files with a much higher audiovisual bitrate.
- Generous free trial: 3 free downloads, full-length, all quality options available, ever love that more.
Am I blowing off on it? This MediaInfo screenshot of Reacher S1E01 on Prime Video, downloaded with it, will tell.

- Do you still remember what I emphasized at the very beginning? This downloader is also not for business activities, and all of them, I mean NoteBurner, StreamFab, or any other similar downloaders, will not bypass the paywall for you. Instead, their running is based on the official subscription to the streaming platforms. AND you shall not distribute or share the downloaded files, since that totally breaks the copyright thing.
Well, all talk and no action is useless; instead of just listening to me, it's better to try it out yourself and see how it actually performs.
Choose the Amazon Prime Video website while scrolling through the website list on the right side. Log in to your subscribed Amazon account and find the video you want to watch offline.

Then play your selected video, and once you get a pop-up window for customization, select quality, format, subtitles, etc, depending on your preference.

After that, go for the “Download” option to finish your selected Amazon video downloading process.

FAQs
Nope, you can’t mix and match here. If you buy the NoteBurner license for Mac, it’s locked to a Mac. If you want to use it on Windows, that’s another purchase.
This usually happens when Prime Video decides to shuffle around its DRM or mess with the website’s structure. Best bet is to update your software (make sure it’s v2.3.0 or newer), or maybe just reach out to the developer and see if there’s a fresh fix hanging around.
Conclusions
If you’re looking for a straightforward Amazon-only downloader with solid subtitle support and don’t mind the slower download speed, NoteBurner Amazon Video Downloader is a reasonable choice—especially for light, occasional use. However, after putting it side by side with StreamFab and another competitor under the same test conditions, it’s hard to ignore that its real-world speed and automation features lag behind, and its trial and refund window are stricter.
If your goal is to build a long-term, cross-platform offline library with consistent 1080p, high bitrate, and 5.1 audio, StreamFab Amazon Downloader is still the more future-proof and efficient option in 2025, provided you use it within legal, personal-use boundaries and respect the rights of content owners.
